Accommodation: queen bed, double bed or single bed available. Meals: Breakfast and lunch at the house. Training: All group training sessions and private group classes. Transportation: Shuttle service to and from training locations and scheduled activities.
  • What is not included in the registration?
Dinner Extra attractions and excursions Additional transportation outside of scheduled activities
  • Do I need a visa to Brazil and how do I get it?
Yes, you need a visa to enter in Brazil territory. You can apply for a Brazilian visa through the Brazilian consulate. Check the specific requirements and processing time on their official website here. Ensure you apply well in advance of your travel dates.
  • What do I need to know about booking airplane tickets?
You need to find flights arriving on October 10th and departing on October 21st. Ideally, you should arrive in the morning (which means leaving the US on the 9th) and leave late afternoon on the 21st. Typically, tickets cost between $990 and $1,200 and the total travel time is about 14-16 hours with 1 or 2 stops from Indianapolis or Chicago. When searching for tickets, choose Galeao International Airport (GIG). In the past we have found good deals from the US to Brazil using BACC Travel
  • Do I need a travel insurance?
It is highly recommended to have travel insurance when traveling to Brazil. This will cover any unexpected medical expenses and provide peace of mind during your trip. Get more information about travel insurance here.
  • I want to sign up for the tournament. How does it work?
If you are interested in participating in the Rei do Rio jiu-jitsu tournament by FJJ-Rio on October 12th, on the time of your registration, please select the option of YES and we will contact you to proceed with the registration. Don't worry, we will complete the whole registration for you!
  • What is the deadline for registration?
Hurry, limited spots available! Reserve your spot before July 31st.
  • Is Rio safe?
Like any major city, Rio de Janeiro has areas that are safer than others. Always stay vigilant, avoid using your phone or camera when on the streets, avoid carrying large amounts of cash, leave your passport at the house and take a copy with you, and keep your valuables secure. Our accommodations and training locations are in safe areas, and we will provide guidance on where to go and what areas to avoid. Additionally, all transportation will be done with our private shuttle. It's important to note that Rio is a city with significant social and economic contrasts, which is one of the reasons for the presence of violence. However, the city also has a unique mix of the poor and the rich living in the same space, adding to its vibrant and diverse character.
  • What should I do about the temperature in Rio?
Rio de Janeiro can be quite hot, so it's important to stay hydrated and wear appropriate clothing. Bring lightweight, breathable clothing for training and casual wear. Don't forget sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses for protection against the sun.
  • How many gis should I take with me?
We recommend taking 2 gis with you. We understand that space is limited since you will only be able to take one checked luggage. The house has a laundry room, but it will be shared with all 12 guests, so having an extra gi will ensure you have one ready while the other is being washed.
  • Can I use my phone in Brazil?
It depends on your phone provider. You can turn on "airplane mode" or "flight mode" to stop roaming charges. Some phone providers, like T-Mobile and AT&T, might also offer free or unlimited data in Brazil. Always try to use available Wi-Fi, and there will be Wi-Fi available in the house.
  • How can I get more information?
If you need more information or have any questions, please contact Alan Stockman directly at 317-556-4149. He will be happy to assist you with any inquiries you may have.

Have more questions? Feel free to reach out to our team for assistance and inquiries.
